Motorcycle driving test at the Transport Administration – how it works
The state driving test for categories A, A2 and A1 takes place at the Transport Administration in two stages: first seven exercises on a closed course (up to 10 minutes), then at least 35 minutes of riding in town and out of town. My students do not wait months for an exam date: the slots are booked in advance and you take the exam on the school's motorcycle, whose rental is included in the price. Last year 65 of my students hit the road.
Before the driving test: the theory exam at the Transport Administration
The theory exam has 40 questions, 10 of them on road safety; you have 30 minutes; up to 5 mistakes are allowed, at most 1 in the safety questions. You can take the exam in Estonian, Russian or English. The result is valid for 12 months – the driving test must be passed within that time. In initial training the theory exam is open 6 months and the driving test 3 months before the minimum age.
Guaranteed State Exam Dates
One of the main sources of stress for a beginner is the months-long wait for the state exam, causing skills to fade. So you can focus entirely on learning and take your exam at peak form, I have pre-booked state exam dates for my students.
I value your time and effort. My system allows me to pick your exam date as soon as I gauge your progress during the first lessons on the training ground. You won't forget how to balance or use the clutch, because you will take the driving test without a long wait in general queues.
In standard driving schools, you have to look for a free "slot" yourself after passing theory, which is usually a month or two away. At Motokool Kindel Lenks, your state exam is already planned.
Exam days in 2026
+ 13 more exam dates until the end of September
I book the 2027 exam slots in March–April: up to 7 students every week. Exams start in May, riding lessons from early April, as soon as the weather is stable. If you are planning a category for next year, learn the theory now and pass the theory exam – the result is valid for 12 months. You can start for 50 €, and a money-back guarantee applies that nobody has used so far.

How the exam day goes
- I build the training so that little time passes between your last riding lesson and the exam – you go to the exam fresh.
- You take the exam on the same school motorcycle you learned on – a Kawasaki Z650 for category A, a Honda NC700 for A2, a Benelli BN 125 for A1; the rental is included in the price.
- All the gear you need – helmet, jacket, armor, gloves, boots and a high-visibility vest – is provided by the school when needed, both for lessons and for the exam. Bring a valid identity document and a charged phone with earphones.
- There are seven exercises on the closed course: slow riding (25 m at walking pace), a figure of eight, a slalom (5 cones), braking and stopping at a set point (at least 50 km/h), emergency braking (at least 50 km/h), swerving around an obstacle (30 and 50 km/h), and pushing the motorcycle into a parking space and leaving it. One retry is allowed per exercise; a fall or touching a cone ends the exam. Then at least 35 minutes of riding in traffic – the examiner's instructions come through a communication device (phone and earphones).
- The driving test at the Transport Administration is held in Estonian; if you need translation, I interpret at the exam myself, free of charge, so you save on an interpreter.
Complete your remaining riding hours right before the exam. Pass the exam at your peak form while your skills are fresh.
The exam motorcycle
The Transport Administration has no motorcycles of its own – the exam is taken on the school's bike, whose rental is included in the price. The bike must match the category: A – at least 600 cc, 50 kW and over 180 kg; A2 – 20–35 kW and at least 250 cc; A1 – up to 11 kW and at least 120 cc. My bikes: a Kawasaki Z650 (A, 50 kW, with a lowered seat if needed), a Honda NC700 (A2, 35 kW, comfortable for adult learners too) and a Benelli BN 125 (A1, 8 kW, beginner-friendly). The exam is taken on a bike with a manual gearbox, so your license lets you ride motorcycles with both manual and automatic gearboxes.
My students
Last year 65 of my students hit the road – they ride both on asphalt and off-road. The main thing is not passing the exam but how ready you are to ride a motorcycle on your own afterwards.
If the exam does not go well
If the driving test does not go well, the Transport Administration rules apply: a new exam date is available no earlier than a week later and the 50 € state fee has to be paid again; after every third failed exam at least two extra riding lessons (continuation training) are required before registering again. In practice it works like this: together we pick a new free slot from my booked exam days, and if needed you take extra riding lessons before it at the list price.
State fees
State fees are not included in the price: you pay the theory exam fee of 30 € and the license issuing fee of 23 € (in the e-service) to the Transport Administration yourself before registering. The driving test fee of 50 € on an exam date I have booked is paid by the school, which invoices you for it; if you go to the exam at a time you registered yourself, you pay that too.
Useful to know
Can I take the driving test before the theory exam?
No. Before the driving test you have to pass the theory exam at the Transport Administration. That is why we start the riding lessons only once the theory is done – so your skills do not fade while you wait.
How long do I have to wait for an exam date?
In standard driving schools, you have to look for a free "slot" yourself after passing theory, which is usually a month or two away. At Motokool Kindel Lenks, your state exam is already planned.
Do I ride the school's motorcycle at the exam?
Yes. The motorcycle rental for the state exam is included in the price, as is the gear.
What happens if I fail the exam?
If the driving test does not go well, the Transport Administration rules apply: a new exam date is available no earlier than a week later and the 50 € state fee has to be paid again; after every third failed exam at least two extra riding lessons (continuation training) are required before registering again. In practice it works like this: together we pick a new free slot from my booked exam days, and if needed you take extra riding lessons before it at the list price.
